About the role:
As a result of ongoing growth and global expansion, we are seeking a full-time Financial Controller. This is an exciting opportunity to join the Blackdot team, reporting to the founding CEO of a growth company. About you:
As the Financial Controller, you will be an individual who can make a valuable contribution to the financial performance and growth of a small to medium business. This role is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified individual with 10 years' experience in a Finance role who is looking to develop their career by joining an expanding global business. To keep up in this fast-paced environment, you will need to have strong commercial acumen, versatility and be able to liaise with multiple stakeholders.
Duties and responsibilities:
  • Ownership of a robust and detailed budgeting and forecasting process.
  • Ownership of the regular financial reporting including detailed analysis of revenue streams, profitability, cost base, cash flows and risks.
  • Ensuring compliance to statutory law, finance, and tax regulations.
  • Working closely with CEO & Leadership team to deliver reports, analysis findings, potential risk areas and forecast opportunities.
  • Provide commercial financial analysis to support initiatives including internal business initiatives and incentive schemes.
  • Managing external banking relationships.
  • Liaison with external accountants and lawyers as required
  • Manage the Finance team to ensure a consistent high standard of output from the team.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to increase the value, robustness and efficiency of financial processes and reporting.
  • Maintenance and documentation of accounting procedures & policies.
  • Solving technical accounting issues.
  • Oversee financial systems and external providers of systems management and system upgrades.
  • Ensure consistency and compliance across the multiple geographies.
  • Review contracts and agreements, for clients, suppliers and employees, focusing on commerciality with an eye to identify legal and operational risks.
  • Develop the skills and capabilities of the Finance Team to increase the efficiency and value add of the team.
Skills and experience required:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s qualifications in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration or Business Law or similar.
  • Professional accounting qualification such as CA or CPA.
  • Minimum 10 years’ accounting experience operating in a fast-paced business environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to form strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Confident and assertive with an ability to challenge existing thinking.
  • Self-driven, energetic and motivated to achieve positive outcomes for the business and clients.
  • Experience with cost allocation and transfer pricing across business units.
  • Can-do attitude and willingness to be hands-on as required.
  • Strong pro-active and pragmatic problem-solving skills.
  • A proven ability to manage a diverse set of activities concurrently.
  • Excellent logical reasoning skills and ability to work independently.
  • Driven to continuously improve processes and operational excellence.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
  • Experience with creating financial statements.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer software skills, including Excel, Powerpoint and other accounting packages.
Skills and experience preferred:
  • Experience working in a services business that provides solutions to large and mid-sized corporations.
  • Working with overseas offices and multi-currency / geographies.
  • Contract negotiation experience and basic contract legal knowledge.
